EDITORIAL

Dear Members and Friends of the ABS,

As we move through the complexities of an ever-changing world, reflecting on the enduring and extraordinary relationship between Austria and the United Kingdom is perspective-broadening. Our shared history, from the times when our two countries were both 'empires', through the great wars, the occupation period, the time we spent together as part of the European Union, to the now redefining togetherness, and in addition to that our culture and our shared values, all that has formed a bridge that has linked our nations for centuries.

Our honourable society fosters friendships, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding in today's fast-paced global landscape. Whether through our exceptional events or our publishing activities, we continually strengthen the bonds that unite us.

Newly elected at the Biennial General Meeting, the Austro-British Society Board remains committed to dialogue, collaboration and respect. It will not waver in its appreciation of diversity and promotion of unity. The entire Board thanks you for this confidence in the next period of activity and your unwavering support and commitment. Together, we will ensure that our timeless bond between our countries endures for generations to come!

Yours, Jochen Ressel,
ABS Secretary General & ABS News Editor-in-Chief

PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE

The newly elected ABS Board

We recently held our ABS Biennial General Meeting successfully at the Diplomatic Academy. The 16 ABS Board members were also elected.

Some members then suggested adding photos to the board member’s list for better recognition. At the last ABS Board meeting, it was decided to update the CVs of all board members and add a photo to each one to fulfil this request. This will be implemented in October.

Take the opportunity to talk to ABS Board members at our events and don't be afraid to ask questions. Any of our board members will also be happy to provide you with information on how you can introduce people in your network to the ABS. The entire ABS Board is very happy to be here for you and we will all do our best to continue to provide you with exceptional experiences in the years to come!

Prof KR Dr Kurt Tiroch
ABS President
