EDITORIAL

Dear Members and Friends of the ABS,

Congratulations to all of you! You have managed to get through the ABS Summer break, which has undoubtedly hit you hard. We are confident that our suggestions in previous issues of ABS News on how to cope with this challenging situation have helped you.

Seriously, we hope you had a great summer season, and we are back, too! It is our pleasure to inform you about the events that the Austro-British Society has prepared for you in September, and we look forward to seeing you again at the next opportunity.

There is one extraordinary event, which only takes place every two years, which we would particularly like to draw your attention to: The ABS Biennial Meeting, which, on the one hand, reports on the past period but also sets the scene for the years to come. On the other hand, we offer an extraordinary lecture after the official part, which you should attend. Please find all the details below! I hope you enjoy reading this new issue of ABS News and hope to welcome you again in person at the next opportunity!

Yours, Jochen Ressel,
ABS Secretary General & ABS News Editor-in-Chief

PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE

Cooperation is key!

We keep close contact with more than 40 ABS Corporate members and constantly exchange information about market developments. Opportunities for cooperation are regularly addressed.

So there are now two opportunities for ABS Events in autumn, to which we are generously invited. At the beginning of October at Denzel with the focus "E-Mobility - The Chinese Power" and in November at Frey Luxury Cars, where the latest models from McLaren and Aston Martin are presented.

Both are a must for car enthusiasts. In any case, my anticipation is very high!

Prof KR Dr Kurt Tiroch
ABS President

ABS BIENNIAL GENERAL MEETING

One of the most critical events in the lifecycle of the ABS: Biennial General Meeting on September 11, 2023

At the ABS General Meeting, which is held every two years in accordance with the Articles of Association, those members who have paid their current membership fee by the cut-off date of August 28, 2023, are eligible to attend.

At the General Meeting...
  • ... the activities of the past two years,
  • ... the membership development and
  • ... the financial position
  • and submitted to the members for confirmation.
  • In addition, the proposal for the Board of Directors for the next two years is presented and subsequently voted on.
Because of the importance of the Biennial General Meeting, which sets the path for the coming years, the participation of as many ABS Members as possible is desirable. We are looking forward to welcoming you!

But there is another reason: We are expecting a fascinating lecture:

Following the official part of our Biennial General Meeting 2023, the host and our Honorary President, Dr Emil Brix, Director of the Diplomatic Academy Vienna, will give us an fascinating lecture on the topic "History matters - Why Great Britain and Austria deal with history differently" (in German language).
