Dear Members and Friends of the ABS!
How quickly the year 2022 has flown by. No sooner have we invited everyone to the New Year's reception than it's already that time again. 38 ABS Events, 5 ABS Policy Papers, 16 ABS Blog articles and countless social media posts on Facebook and Instagram. We say goodbye to the old year and welcome 2023.
The entire board of our honourable society wishes you that this new year will be a great one for you, filled with joy, contentment, health and above all, peace!

PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE
The ABS never stands still
Standing still is a step backwards when you are used to constantly moving forward. The ABS has been doing this for over a decade, trying always to be spot-on, to get even better in implementing the diverse events and to add new services for you, distinguished members, to our Society's portfolio.
The following innovations are therefore ready for you:
- The preparatory work for the ABS LinkedIn account was completed in December. From now on, business-related topics will be published there - on the one hand, from a wide variety of sources available to us, and on the other hand, through the many events that we organise and whose content is of interest to the LinkedIn community.
- In January, we will start our engagement on Twitter. The short message service will be used to publish the core content of our events in real-time and thus generate even more relevance.
And additionally, I can also assure you of one thing: We will not let up on the topicality and quality of our activities - because what we have achieved in the past is the benchmark for the future.

MOVIE TIP
EMILY - directed by Frances O'Connor
- Cast: Emma Mackey, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Adrian Dunbar, Fionn Whitehead, Gemma Jones, Alexandra Dowling, Sacha Parkinson, Harry Anton, Amelia Gething
- GB/USA 2022 / 130 Minuten / DF, OmU (Englisch)
Emily Brontë (Emma Mackey) grows up as the daughter of a vicar in rural Yorkshire. The stubborn, serious girl is regarded as peculiar in the village. Emily feels most at home in nature - and in her fantasy world: when she makes up stories together with her siblings, the outsider blossoms. But there is no more room for such "spinning": the Brontë sisters have to contribute to the family's upkeep. Emily is supposed to become a governess, just like her sensible older sister Charlotte (Alexandra Dowling). The pressure of expectation gets to shy Emily. Only her rebellious brother Branwell (Fionn Whitehead), who would rather celebrate licentious parties than live up to their father's standards, understands her. Emily surprisingly finds an ally in her new tutor William Weightman (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). The two are irresistibly drawn to each other. But even William finds Emily's stubbornness and her passion for writing uncanny.
